MOS World Champion from UK!

MOS World Champion from UK!

Certiport has named Kieran Youngman from the United Kingdom "World Champion" in Microsoft Word 2007.

Students from all around the world competed in Final Round of the Microsoft Office World Championship in Washington, D.C. this past week. Two UK Champions (highest scores in Microsoft Office Specialist exams taken during the year in schools) were sponsored by Prodigy Learning to attend the competition.  Luke Benfield (from Bishop of Winchester Academy) and Kieran Youngman (from Sawtry Community College) competed at this 2013 event.  Kieran has now been crowned World Champion for his performance in the Word 2007 category!

The UK has a great recent history in the MOS World Championship with 2 World Champions in 3 years.  In San Diego in 2011, Rebecca Rickwood (also from Sawtry Community College) was crowned World Champion for MOS Excel.  Also last year in Las Vegas, Robert Phipps (from Royal Grammar School in Guildford) was crowned Third Place Winner.  Kieran's win proves, yet again, that UK students are at the top of the class in IT skills!

Craig Bewley (Director, Prodigy Learning) commented: ‚ÄúCongratulations to Kieran Youngman for winning the MOS World Championship 2013.  It is a fantastic achievement and coming hot on the heels of Rebecca Rickwood winning in 2011, proves the high level of UK students' IT skills.  Special praise should also go to Kieran's parents, his school, Sawtry Community College and his teacher, Pam Kitchen, for all their support. Sawtry and Pam have now trained two World Champions in three years which is a unique feat!"

Next year, Certiport will host the 2014 Microsoft Office World Championship at Disneyland in California.  For students to participate in the Competition and get the chance to represent the UK as National Champions, they must take an elgible Microsoft Office Specialist exam at their school (subject to official UK Competition Rules).
