Coventry University’s Department of Civil Engineering, Architecture and Building has been presented with an Outstanding Centre of Excellence Award for delivery of Autodesk Certified User (ACU) certifications. This award is presented by Prodigy Learning to recognise exceptional performance in delivering internationally recognised IT certifications from industry leaders such as Adobe, Autodesk, HP and Microsoft.
This new Outstanding Centre of Excellence Award is to recognise a select group of centres that reach the highest level of achievement and was awarded for the first time in 2014.
Since adopting Autodesk certification last year, Coventry University’s Department of Civil Engineering, Architecture and Building has successfully delivered over 450 ACU certifications to their Architecture and Civil Engineering students.
Paul Smith(Lecturer in CAD Development), the key Lecturer behind this initiative, said: “It is great to be recognised as an Outstanding Centre of Excellence for the work we are doing with our students at Coventry University. The Autodesk Certified User exams in AutoCAD and Revit are recognised by potential employers and give our students the incentive to study and excel with this industry standard software. Prodigy Learning have helped facilitate our implementation here at Coventry University and Autodesk have been very supportive throughout the process.”
Mike Westlake (UK & Ireland Manager, Autodesk Education EMEA) commented: “It is absolutely fantastic to see Coventry University stepping up to the plate of closing the skills gap and ensuring their students are ready for the world of employment. Autodesk certification give the recipients that added edge when applying for a role in a competitive industry. It shows the employer that these students are certified by Autodesk to use the industry leading Autodesk software. In other words, they are ready to hit the ground running on day one of work which, as an employer, is vital.”
Craig Bewley (Director, Prodigy Learning) added: “It is great credit to Paul and his Team’s teaching abilities that so many students are getting ACU certified. They are definitely leading the way in the UK and I only hope they can certify even more students next year!”.
