Rebekah Kinchin (14) from UTC Reading has become the youngest student in the UK to achieve Autodesk Certified User AutoCAD certification.
UTC Reading’s students have the opportunity to follow areas of interest in either computing and/or engineering whilst studying for traditional qualifications. This unique proposition also allows for students to learn invaluable practical skills by achieving industry recognised professional certifications from Adobe, Autodesk and Microsoft through Prodigy Learning.
Following earlier achievements from students with Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) and Microsoft Technology Associate (MTA) certification, the focus of their enrichment studies shifted from Computing towards Engineering.
Students were introduced to the Autodesk suite of software and specifically the AutoCAD programme. UTC Reading invested in an Autodesk Certified User (ACU) Exam Pack from Prodigy Learning and successfully had their first Autodesk Certified Users within weeks. This is a great achievement for all concerned, especially in such a short space of time.
Andrew Griggs (Senior Account Manager, Prodigy Learning) commented: “The UTC has grown from strength to strength and the latest successes in ACU are outstanding. There are very few students who can say they are industry certified in the Autodesk software, especially at such a young age.”
Congratulations to Guy Pickett-Jones (Engineering Teacher, UTC Reading) who has continued the trend of placing the UTC at the cutting edge of technology and learning in the academic World.

About UTC Reading
UTC Reading is an exciting new University Technical College which opened in September 2013. It has been created through a special partnership between industry and education. This partnership has adopted a new approach to curriculum that is grounded in traditional values and provides a great foundation for the future of its students.
About Autodesk Certified User (ACU) Certification
Autodesk Certified User (ACU) certifications equip students with marketable 2D and 3D design skills by teaching them to use state-of-the-art Autodesk design software. Certification confirms students have the skills necessary to continue their design careers, enter the workforce or work toward additional levels of industry certification.
