MOS4N Spotlight on … Ireland

Our second day of “Spotlight Profiles” is on the Irish Finalists for the MOS Four Nations Championship.

The first “Spotlight” is on Oisín Chelmiah from St Mary’s Knockbeg College, Carlow. Oisín is the PowerPoint Finalist representing Ireland.

  • Describe yourself in 3 words? Talented, Smart, Funny
  • What do you like to do in your spare time? “I train in karate and Taekwon-do. I also like to use computers or work on my uncle’s farm.”
  • What’s your favourite bit of technology, and why? “My phone because it helps me to stay connected to my friends.”
  • Who’s your role model, and why? “Anthony Pettis – He’s a UFC fighter who trained in Taekwon-do from a very young age – like me. He used to live in small rundown house but by training in Taekwon-do he made it all the way to the UFC and looked after his family with the money he made.”
  • Who’s your favourite musician? “Eminem, because the songs he writes are very inspirational and his music is easy to train to.”
  • What’s the best bit of advice you’ve been given, and by who? “Your dreams are very important when deciding a career.” – My Career Guidance teacher
  • What’s the biggest lesson you’ve learned in life so far? “That nothing good comes without work!”
  • Which personal achievements are you most proud of? “Making it into this competition, winning gold in the WKC Karate world championships in 2012 and becoming All-Ireland champion in two martial arts.”
  • What are your career aspirations? “I would like to go into a job in IT in the future but, I would also like to become a successful athlete.”

  • Who’s your favourite musician?“The famous flute player, Denis Bouriakov.”
  • What’s the biggest lesson you’ve learned in life so far? “It’s always difficult to be both perfect and consistent, so aim for consistency every time and eventually the perfection will come.”
