The University of Portsmouth is ranked among the top 400 universities in the world and the top modern university in the United Kingdom in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings. It has a total population of 22,000 students and almost 2,500 staff, with over 85% of the 2012 graduate intake going straight in to work or choosing to continue their studies.
A strong employability focus extends through the Faculty of Creative and Cultural Industries who aim to make a significant impact on the creative and cultural industries both through a highly vocational course portfolio developing the highly skilled and expert graduates needed by industry, and through their industry-relevant research. Most staff have real industry experience and excellent links with the creative industries, so know what industry needs and expects.
The latest addition to the Faculty’s portfolio is the Adobe Certified Associate (ACA) certification programme. ACA has been introduced to provide an industry recognised, global certification to their long list of vocational courses. All students will have the opportunity to take ACA certification alongside their study.
Bill Stote (Faculty Creative Skills Tutor, University of Portsmouth) said “Our students are provided with a whole range of support to enable them to succeed including cutting-edge hardware, software and studios. Adobe certification is the missing piece in providing them with the skills to get that all important foothold in the job market.”
Andrew Griggs (Senior Account Manager, Prodigy Learning) commented “It is fantastic to be able to welcome the University onto the ACA programme. Their emphasis on employability was clear to see from my first visit and this will only be enhanced with the globally recognised Adobe certification brand.”
