New College Lanarkshire (NCLAN) is a newly merged College in Scotland which combines Coatbridge, Cumbernauld and Motherwell Colleges. The College provides learning opportunities right across Lanarkshire and caters for the needs of over 25,000 students. It builds on the existing reputation for teaching of the highest quality and is a great boost to economic development throughout Lanarkshire and beyond.
NCLAN introduced the Autodesk Certified User (ACU) certifications in the Academic Year 2013/14 to all Higher National Certificate (HNC) and Higher National Diploma (HND) Computer Aided Draughting and Design, HNC/D Computer Aided Architectural Design and Technology and HNC/D 3D Animation students.
Offering the ACU exams proved to be very successful for the College and provided a very valuable route to achieving industry recognised qualifications for its students.
Barry Skea, Curriculum Leader at NCLAN was delighted to see the determination of the students to pass the Autodesk Certified User exams, stating: “There is a significant need from industry for highly skilled and capable CAD specialist, having an Autodesk qualification on your CV will only enhance your value to industry”.
Craig Bewley (Director, Prodigy Learning) said: “NCLAN are focused on providing their students with the skills and qualifications that employers are looking for. Autodesk’s ACU certification ticks all the boxes for both the students and the college. We are delighted it is going so well.”
Following the success of ACU this year, NCLAN expects to deliver over 250 ACU exams in the Academic Year 2014/2015.
