York St John University is an outstanding institution, known for its academic excellence and responsive nature, always putting the student at the heart of everything it does. Their magnificent campus is located in the centre of the historic City of York.
The university is the oldest higher education establishment in the city, originally opening as York Training College in 1841. The University has over 6000 students in four faculties; Arts, Education & Theology, Business School and Health and Life Sciences.
York St John’s Arts department has recently implemented the Autodesk Certified User (ACU) qualification to students throughout the faculty. Offering students the added value of a globally recognised certification which, alongside the first class education students receive at YSJ, will greatly enhance their employability upon graduation.
Warren Fearn (Head of Programme for BA Design, York St. John University), said, “Autodesk is the leading design software product in the market and as a university with a focus on employability we felt that offering ACU certification to our students made perfect sense. ACU is recognised by employers worldwide. We pride ourselves on the fact that over 90 per cent of our students go into work or further study within six months of leaving and having the ACU certification can only strengthen this further.”
Andrew Lenehan (Regional Account Manager, Prodigy Learning) said “From our very first conversation Warren and the team at YSJ have recognised the value of ACU certification to students. In today’s competitive jobs market graduates are increasingly competing with people with a number of years’ experience for jobs. Having additional professional qualifications such as ACU as well as a degree from a prestigious university like YSJ can really give graduates the edge when applying for their first job in industry.”
